Shadow in the Sea

Readers will return to Windwaithe Island once again. When sixteen-year-old Sadelyn Hanson washes up on the shores of Windwaithe Island, her beauty and the strange marks on her wrist make superstitious locals suspect she is a mermaid. Feigning amnesia, Sade hides a far worse secret: she was sailing to her own murder trial when she was thrown overboard by the real killer, the cunning and cruel Captain Westwood.

Sade's quiet effort to rebuild her life on the island is threatened when she meets an actual young merman. Unable to speak his language, Sade still longs for the warm companionship he offers, despite the locals' dire legends about merfolk and their dark magic. But her confused feelings for the impossible boy become the least of her problems when Captain Westwood's ship docks at Windwaithe. With nowhere to escape, Sade must trust in the one person who doesn't fear the merfolk. A woman who had dealings with them herself—years ago

UK Cover--Let's Take a Vote

The final UK Cover for Forbidden Sea can now be seen on Amazon UK. Click here to see what it looks like! So let's take a vote. Which one do you like best? The US cover (the one showing on this page) or the UK cover? Make sure to list where you are from with your vote--I'm curious if where a person lives really does affect what style of cover they like. Let me know what you think. Be honest now. You won't hurt my feelings. I had no say what so ever on either cover.

I like both covers, but the US cover wins for me. I like the girl on it.

Both are beautiful. I think it's so funny though that make different covers for different regions of the world. It's a great book! I'm so excited for ya Sheila! Jennie : )

Going to be a little different and say the UK cover. I love all overall look of it... reminds me of The Little Mermaid. I am from TN.

I'm from Utah, and I vastly prefer the US cover. The UK cover is too generic for me, and I'm tired of seeing Zapfino everywhere (though it is a beautiful font).

I'm from Idaho, but I have a lot of British influence. I tend to like the stuff that comes out in the UK more.

In this case, I like the UK one. It seems safer, more fun and less confrontational.

The feel of cover art can be a lot different when one actually sees it in person if the binding differs from the standard we usually see. I wonder how this will turn out. I think how the book is made, and the size of it, can make a big difference as to the aesthetics of the cover art. Also, any promotional material on the book can make a difference, too, but it might have a better effect than you think.

Some things that stick out to me about the US art are as follows: The bubbles make it more inviting for the story. The drooping font seems to imply some element of danger, or deviation. It's a fairly close and intimate picture. She looks very placid, like she's been in that position for a long time, kind of like she's modeling.

The US, for sure. :)
And I'm still cracking up over my 11 year old brother adoring your book and panting for the sequel!

I vote for the U.S.A. cover hands down!

It's still strange to me that they feel the covers have to be different... but whatever :) I love 'em both.
