Shadow in the Sea

Readers will return to Windwaithe Island once again. When sixteen-year-old Sadelyn Hanson washes up on the shores of Windwaithe Island, her beauty and the strange marks on her wrist make superstitious locals suspect she is a mermaid. Feigning amnesia, Sade hides a far worse secret: she was sailing to her own murder trial when she was thrown overboard by the real killer, the cunning and cruel Captain Westwood.

Sade's quiet effort to rebuild her life on the island is threatened when she meets an actual young merman. Unable to speak his language, Sade still longs for the warm companionship he offers, despite the locals' dire legends about merfolk and their dark magic. But her confused feelings for the impossible boy become the least of her problems when Captain Westwood's ship docks at Windwaithe. With nowhere to escape, Sade must trust in the one person who doesn't fear the merfolk. A woman who had dealings with them herself—years ago

Forbidden Sea Sequel?

My most recent manuscript is DONE! Completed. It has been sent off to my agent. Now the waiting game begins. I hate that part of being an author. Waiting and waiting to hear back from publishers--sometimes for years. *big sigh*

While I wait, I've begun work on two new projects. One is a new book, an alternate universe fantasy that I've started writing. The other is a project that I've been secretly working on for quite some time.

What is this secret project, you ask? Only the SEQUEL to Forbidden Sea. Yes, you read that right. The sequel has been written (as in, all done and completed)--and is now going through the extensive editing process that always comes before a book can be published. I've been dying to let you all know about this project  as I worked on it, but knew I needed to wait until it was far enough along in the process to announce it. The best part about the sequel is that you get to finally meet the Sea Prince himself! Trust me, you are all going to swoon.

The sequel is not being published by Scholastic (the publishing house that did Forbidden Sea), so this is all new territory for me. I'm hoping the sequel will be published sometime early next year--but an official release date is still up in the air at this point. So keep checking back on this page to get more information as it becomes available!

Everyone *squee* with me in delight and share your excitement and love in comments below.

I am so happy I loved your book and I've searched High and Low for a book that could make feel the way your book made me feel but I realized books are different and they make you feel different ways but I just can not wait to dive into the world that you'll soon provide. I'm waiting

I picked up Forbidden Sea at my local library and loved it so much I bought it. My 13-year-old daughter says it is her all time favorite book. We can wait for the sequel!

Nothing delights an author more than to hear a child has chosen to honor it by considering it to be their favorite book. Thank you for letting me know and putting a smile on my face. I can't wait for your daughter to read the next installment.

I loved your book! I was hooked from page one. I even read it to a class I was a long term substitute teacher for and they were hooked instantly. They begged me to keep reading every day. Hearing there's going to be a sequel is exciting news! I will certainly be reading it!

Lindsey--It is teachers like you that make all the hard work worth while. Thanks for sharing my story with your students!

I cannot wait!!! I've read this book a million times over and I love it! I'm so happy that you've written a sequel and I will be one of the first to buy it when it comes out. Thank you for all your hardwork into the forbidden sea and no doubt into the next book - trust me it was all worth it! I love the way your writing makes the words jump to life and how you intricately link your words to paint a vivid picture in your mind which some authors don't seem to do as well. Again thank you! Oh.My.Lord
you have no idea how long ive been waiting for this sequel! I read Forbidden Sea when it first came out, I remember it was a brand new book, and i dreamed and dreamed you'd someday write a sequel! I'm pretty sure i took out that copy of the book a hundred times! Every time I re-read it i feel just as excited as the first time, I swear i never get tired. It is by far my most favourite book on Earth! I tried so hard to make my older sister read it, but alas she has horrible taste in fiction and refused to do so. But my youngest sister really seemed to enjoy it (very much she says). So in short, I am looking forward to reading it, and I will be the first to buy it off the shelves

Your encouraging comments have inspired me as I work so hard to edit the sequel and get it ready for publication next year. Editing is the least exciting part of the process. But you have all helped me to keep going as I think about how much fun it will be to finally share this fabulous story with you all. Thank you so much!

Oh my gosh! I can't believe the sequel to Forbidden Sea is going to come out! When I first read Forbidden Sea, I was so happy because it shows the girl power that Adrianne Keyman has in her! Besides of her, I really love Denn Young and his freckles and his red hair.

Thank you all for your kind comments. They have given me lots of courage as I've struggle through the difficult process of deep edits that have to take place before a book can be published. So much work. I can only hope you will all love the final product as much as I enjoyed writing it.
