Shadow in the Sea

Readers will return to Windwaithe Island once again. When sixteen-year-old Sadelyn Hanson washes up on the shores of Windwaithe Island, her beauty and the strange marks on her wrist make superstitious locals suspect she is a mermaid. Feigning amnesia, Sade hides a far worse secret: she was sailing to her own murder trial when she was thrown overboard by the real killer, the cunning and cruel Captain Westwood.

Sade's quiet effort to rebuild her life on the island is threatened when she meets an actual young merman. Unable to speak his language, Sade still longs for the warm companionship he offers, despite the locals' dire legends about merfolk and their dark magic. But her confused feelings for the impossible boy become the least of her problems when Captain Westwood's ship docks at Windwaithe. With nowhere to escape, Sade must trust in the one person who doesn't fear the merfolk. A woman who had dealings with them herself—years ago

Wow, who knew there were so many mermaid books! Coincidentally, for folklore class tonight I'm reading Hans Christian Anderson's The Little Mermaid.

I am trying to find this book i read as a child. (I can only tell what parts I remember.) Its about a little girl who gets taken underwater by a mermaid for only a few minutes but when the little girl returns to the surface years have passed. Can you please let me know the name of that book. Thank you.

I'm afraid I've never heard of a story like that. But maybe someone who visits this post in the future will recognize it and leave a title for you. Keep checking back!

Love your list. But you might check out a new book, Tales of the Mer Family Onyx: Mermaid stories on land and under the sea.

It's on Amazon and has great reviews.

Aloha!

We will soon be releasing the 1st edition of “Tales of the Mermaids of Waiahuakua -Those of the Sea," a collection of traditional Hawaiian creation and romantic legends involving the mermaid . The book is beautifully and artfully illustrated. These legends include stories from Hawaii, Tahiti, Samoa, Tonga, the Marquesas’ as well as the Maori of New Zealand.

"Since the time of the great voyages from Tahiti to Hawaii, the mermaid has been a part of the legend and lore. There are many tales of Hawaiian Mermaids dating back as far as when the first voyagers from Kahiki ventured forth upon the waters of the Pacific to populate “Hawaii…the land of green-backed and mottled seas.”

The book (fully returnable) will be available in an 8.5x8.5 full color soft-cover as well as an eBook through all major distributors:
978-1-77067-566-7 (Paperback)
978-1-77067-567-4 (eBook)

I'm a teenager who lives to read books about teenage mermaids. I especially love Forbidden Sea, but I've read most of the books on the list and can't seem to find any more books. Suggestions?

The Vicious Deep series, by Zoraida Cordova. It's a great read, one I couldn't put away.
