ReplyDeleteI'm from Utah, and I vastly prefer the US cover. The UK cover is too generic for me, and I'm tired of seeing Zapfino everywhere (though it is a beautiful font).
ReplyDeleteI'm from Idaho, but I have a lot of British influence. I tend to like the stuff that comes out in the UK more.
ReplyDeleteIn this case, I like the UK one. It seems safer, more fun and less confrontational.
The feel of cover art can be a lot different when one actually sees it in person if the binding differs from the standard we usually see. I wonder how this will turn out. I think how the book is made, and the size of it, can make a big difference as to the aesthetics of the cover art. Also, any promotional material on the book can make a difference, too, but it might have a better effect than you think.
Some things that stick out to me about the US art are as follows: The bubbles make it more inviting for the story. The drooping font seems to imply some element of danger, or deviation. It's a fairly close and intimate picture. She looks very placid, like she's been in that position for a long time, kind of like she's modeling.
I'm from Utah, and do love British things, but I prefer the US cover.
